This past month ERA's own Nick Varchetto participated in his first Washington, DC Fly In with the Underground Contractors Association's Emerging Leaders Group. The group joined forces with the Clean Water Construction Coalition for Water Week 2019 to promote federal legislation that improves water and wastewater infrastructure.
The big push on the agenda, while meeting with the congressional representatives : Danny Davis (IL-D), Michael Bost (IL-R), Rodney Davis (IL-R), Dan Lipinski (IL-D), & Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-D), was to express support and give testimony on why authorizing and appropriating HR 1497 (The Clean Water SRF) to the tune of $4 billion dollars, not only benefits construction jobs and the economy, but also helps protect all local citizens who utilize public water sources. Since the 1980’s, the State Revolving Funds (SRF - a loan program by the federal government to the states) has trickled to the lowest funding it has ever been. With infrastructure at a grade level “D”, it is paramount to inform our representatives that funding be put back on track so that we can provide safe water infrastructure for everyone.
