Civil Engineering Intern

Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineering Intern to work in our Warrenville office. This position would primarily be working on transportation, structural, stormwater and infrastructure projects. The primary role of this position is to assist with preparation of civil engineering design drawings, specifications, estimates, and supplemental reports. The ideal candidate will currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a BS in Civil Engineering and working towards their professional engineering license in addition to the qualifications listed below.

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and technical writing
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Project coordinator for client contact, scheduling tasks and interaction with reviewing agencies and other stakeholders. Ability to multi-task and take on multiple projects at a time
  • MicroStation knowledge a plus
  • Proficiency in technical and business writing
  • Candidate must be organized, self-motivated, dependable, personable, and able to multi-task and work effectively as a team player

Civil Design Engineer

The primary role of this position is to be responsible for preparation of civil engineering design drawings, specifications, estimates, and supplemental reports. The ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited college or university with a BS in Civil Engineering and working towards their professional engineering license in addition to the qualifications listed below.

  • 1-5 years of experience
  • Municipal engineering experience for transportation and infrastructure projects
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and technical writing
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Project coordinator for client contact, scheduling tasks and interaction with reviewing agencies and other stakeholders. Ability to multi-task and take on multiple projects at a time
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MicroStation SS4/OpenRoads, and AutoCAD Civil 3D

Entry-Level Project Engineer

​Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer/EIT for site and civil land development in our Warrenville office. This position would primarily be working on private land development projects, but would also assist on other infrastructure, and transportation projects as needed. The primary role of this position is to be responsible for preparation of civil engineering design drawings and supplemental reports relating to land development and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited college or university with a BS in Civil Engineering in addition to qualifications listed below.

  • 0-4 years of experience in:
    • Site & Land Development
    • Transportation and infrastructure projects
    • Stormwater analysis and design
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

Resident Engineer/
​Construction Manager

Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Resident Engineer/Construction Manager.  The selected candidate will oversee other field staff and provide construction phase services to our IDOT, county and municipal clients. 
 
Position Requirements Include:
  • 5-10 years of experience as a Resident Engineer / Construction Inspector on local county and state construction projects is preferred
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois (preferred)
  • Familiarity with IDOT materials and documentation procedures is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and documents, compute quantities and verify measurements and layouts is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to maintain detailed daily diary entries.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all projects stakeholders (client, contractor, sub-consultants) and interact with the public to respond to inquiries and resolve problems.
  • Experience with Illinois Construction Records System (ICORS) is desired.  Proficiency with MS Office applications for reporting is required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license be able to travel to local project sites and work extended hours as required.

Structural Design Engineer (Entry-Level)

Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated entry level Structural Design Engineer for our structural department in our Warrenville office. This position would primarily be working on structural projects, but would also assist on other transportation and infrastructure projects as needed. These projects will primarily involve design and inspection of bridge and transportation structures. The ideal candidate will be someone just starting their career in engineering and looking to proceed with a focus in structural engineering and looking to eventually get their structural engineering license.
 
The candidate must have these basic qualifications/requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • EIT certification
  • One (1) year+ experience in design of bridges and transportation structures
  • Good Working knowledge of CADD 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MSCE with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
  • Working knowledge and use of MicroStation and MathCad
  • Working knowledge of the basic structural design applications and programs
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to interact and work effectively and productively
  • FHWA - NHI - Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges training is a plus.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Performing structural analysis, design, and plan preparation for bridges and/or transportation structures
  • Ability to perform bridge inspections, assessments and preparation of reports
  • Client interface and project coordination
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines in a professional manner

Survey Crew Chief

Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) is currently seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to work out of our Warrenville, IL office.
 
Our surveying services include topographic surveys, ALTA Surveys, boundary surveys, condominium surveys, plats of subdivision, easement plats, construction layout, as-constructed measurement, elevation certificates, and expert witness services.  ERA utilizes current state of the art survey equipment including robotic total stations, Trimble GPS units, and UAV/Drone technologies.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage a 1 or 2-person survey crew to perform survey field work for topographic, boundary, ALTA and construction surveys for public and private clients
  • Complete work in a timely and professional manner
  • Demonstrate commitment to successful projects and client satisfaction
  • Keep accurate, detailed, and professional notes and sketches related to all phases of survey work
  • Manage, download and transfer survey data files and site photos to internal project folders
  • Able to read and interpret recorded survey documents, maps, plats and deeds
  • Able to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Maintain a high standard for quality and accuracy of work
  • Proper use and care of survey equipment and vehicles
 
Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of survey related experience
  • 2+ years of survey field crew chief experience
  • Working knowledge of survey data collection procedures and field survey methods and techniques
  • Proficient in operating Trimble GPS/VRS, Robotic Total Stations and Data Collectors
  • Ability to work alone or with a crew
  • Ability to work year-round in an outdoor environment
  • Candidate must be reliable, dependable and responsible
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid driving license and driving record acceptable to our company insurance provider
  • Must be U.S. Citizen or permanent resident (without sponsorship)
