Warrenville, IL—ERA is excited to share a status update on an awesome cause our company was fortunate enough to be a part of this past fall called The Water Project. The Water Project helps bring clean water to sub-Saharan African communities through new wells, rehabbed wells, sand dams, rainwater catchment systems and/or spring protections to schools, medical clinics and villages. The project uses indigenous workers from the local community so they can keep the costs down and employ local help. Funds raised were specifically used for creating a clean spring water protection point for a small community in Kenya that became active as of January this year.
This initiative was lead by local students at Plainfield South High School by raising funds through participating in a “Water Challenge” last fall. This involved a two-week period of giving up their beverage of choice and applying that savings to their pledge. In doing so, it also brought personal awareness and appreciation for the clean water we so often take for granted. In addition to ERA sponsoring the cause, several ERA employees also participated in the “water challenge.”
