ERA was chosen to design a Technical Rescue Training prop for the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) to provide a unique variety of differing training options for students. The nearly 40’ tall structure was built with steel framing around railroad cars, and includes a 10’ cantilevered platform on one side that will eventually overlook a tower installed to allow training for vertical rescue operations. Interior spaces will be added for confined space and hazardous materials training as well. The prop is currently being used to teach rope rescue techniques, as shown in the photos taken during the Phillips 66 Corporate Rescue School, when IFSI hosted people from a dozen different refineries in North America who come annually for a week-long school.
