ERA was retained by the Village of Bensenville to complete and update stormwater master plans for each of the 3 major watersheds within the Village of Bensenville. These included Addison Creek, Bensenville Ditch, and Willow Creek. Addison Creek watershed is approximately 2,400 acres in size encompassing the Village of Bensenville, City of Wood Dale, Village of Addison, and unincorporated DuPage County. Using XSPWMM ERA demonstrated that all identified upstream sewer projects could be completed if Redmond was expanded by only 20 acre-feet. The Bensenville Ditch and Willow Creek watersheds are approximately 1,200 acres and 2,200 acres in size respectively. ERA worked with Village Staff to gain an understanding of the urban drainage system and topography of each watershed to identify severe flooding at several locations. ERA worked with Village staff to identify potential improvement projects for these areas. Using XPSWMM 2D, ERA identified several conveyance improvement projects that significantly reduces urban flooding throughout both watersheds.
