ERA provided Phase I and II engineering services for the replacement of the Hart Road three-cell CMP culvert (SN 049-3077) with a single-span PPC I-girder superstructure (SN 049-3079) supported on integral abutments with steel piles. The project also included soldier pile retaining walls on the east side of Hart Road for the approach and departure side of the on-structure pedestrian path. The project included 800-ft of roadway reconstruction to raise the vertical profile to meet hydraulic clearance and 2,000-ft of resurfacing. Key design elements include native seeding, vegetated river rock with wetland plugs, and cross vanes within the creek. Extensive coordination was also required with the adjacent Village of Barrington creek restoration and bike path project to ensure the proposed improvements aligned with each other. Phase I engineering included an inspection, Bridge Condition Report (BCR), Type, Size & Location (TS&L) drawing, Hydraulic Report and Environmental Studies. Phase II engineering included the construction documents for the bridge, permitting and load rating analysis for the new structure.
The project won the 2023 APWA Project of the Year in the Transportation $5-$25 million category. |
