ERA provided Phase I and Phase II engineering for the replacement of the restrictive culvert on Bliss Road servicing Lake Run creek using local funds. The existing single cell culvert was replaced with dual precast boxes with cast-in-place horizontal wingwalls utilizing stage construction. One direction of traffic was detoured, and the other side remained open using temporary sheet piling. Key design features included remediation of severe bank erosion and vegetation loss due to high water fluctuations using large diameter bank-run cobbles sized for proposed creek velocities, vegetated rock toe and riprap. The design also included the establishment of low-profile, deep rooted native grasses to provide additional stabilization. Phase I engineering consisted of Hydraulic Analysis and Environmental Studies. Phase II engineering consisted of construction documents, Plat of Highways (POH), land acquisition and negotiations, and permitting.
