ERA provided Phase II engineering design services for the replacement of approximately 5,400 linear feet of 12-inch water main along Lunt Avenue, spanning from Busse Road to Elmhurst Road. Lunt Avenue is a 30-foot roadway serving a heavily utilized industrial business park. The tie-in locations at Busse Road and Elmhurst Road are both under IDOT jurisdiction and required meticulous coordination. The project necessitated extensive coordination with JULIE utilities due to congestion from various utilities located on both sides of Lunt Avenue, including electrical, fiber optic communication and data lines servicing business and data centers. Planning required coordination with businesses to minimize disruptive access to loading facilities. The water main was designed in the outer to accommodate multiple private utilities in the parkway and to allow work to be staged so the roadway could remain open to traffic without a detour. New water service lines, hydrants, and mainline valve spacing were installed for all businesses. Additionally, the project involved jack and bore installations under a Union Pacific Railroad crossing and two existing box culverts.
