ERA performed a comprehensive range of tasks for stream restoration and flood mitigation, collaborating with two villages, the state, and Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD). Efforts were aimed to restore flow and reduce flooding by lowering base flood elevation. Improvements include stream channel surveying, hydraulic modeling, wetland delineations, utility investigation, plan preparation, permit applications, construction management, and review processes such as shop drawings and change orders. This project required clearing, tree removal, dredging, widening, and relocation of 4,500 feet of stream channel, plus excavation and grading for floodplain storage, installation of retaining walls and stream features, sewer system modifications, and extensive restoration efforts including native plant monitoring. Additionally, asphalt bike path and box culvert removal and replacement were part of the project to enhance flood control measures.
