Hoffmann Receives ISPE's Young Engineer of the Year Award

ERA’s Kelly Jo Hoffmann recognized at Illinois Society of Professional Engineers' annual convention
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) is proud to announce that Kelly Jo Hoffmann, PE, SE received the Young Engineer of the Year Award at the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers' (ISPE) 2010 Annual Convention in Champaign on July 23rd and 24th.
Based out of ERA's Champaign office, Kelly Jo is a structural engineer with over eight years of professional experience. At ERA, she serves as the design leader and inspector on structural projects for state agencies, county agencies, and municipalities throughout Illinois. She calculates, details, and oversees implementing her design concepts to other design engineers and CAD technicians. She works directly with her numerous governmental clients. She earned her Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Illinois-Champaign Urbana in 2001, and her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois-Champaign Urbana in 2000.
Ms. Hoffmann has played an active role with the Champaign County Chapter of ISPE since 2005. She has served as Chapter Secretary and is the current Chapter Vice President. She has been on the annual Golf Outing Committee and served as the Engineering Week Banquet Chair since 2006. In 2007, Kelly Jo was named Champaign County Chapter's Outstanding Chapter Member, and in 2008 she was named the Chapter's Young Engineer of the Year. In 2009, the Champaign County Chapter recognized Ms. Hoffmann with the chapter's Distinguished Service Award. She has also shown a strong sense of civic duty by serving as the United Way of Champaign Urbana Pillar from 2008 to 2009, and by her participation in Habitat for Humanity and her church.
The Young Engineer Award recognizes young ISPE members who have made outstanding contributions to their profession and/or community. Nominees must be younger than 34 years of age at the beginning of the nominating year. The state honoree is also submitted to NSPE for the national competition. Nominees must also be a Professional Engineer (PE) or an Engineering Intern (EI).
