ERA’s staff helped break ground on neighborhood park redevelopment project
LOMBARD, Ill. - Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) staff helped celebrate the Kensington Park groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, April 13. Representatives from ERA joined Butterfield Park District park board commissioners, staff, contractors, and residents to commence the redevelopment of the 9-acre park site in the Butterfield East neighborhood of Lombard, Illinois. When completed, park developments will include improvements and renovation to two baseball fields, the construction of a U8 soccer field, and pavilion. Plans also include a bike trail and off-street parking for approximately 40 vehicles. The park will reopen in 2010.
ERA was retained by the Butterfield Park District to design, permit, and the construction layout and inspection of the Kensington Park improvement project. ERA staff provided a review of existing conditions and a concept design for Kensington Park. ERA and park district staff discussed alternative solutions to better define project goals and objectives. Site plans and final construction documents contained detailed grading and drainage design, including storm sewer systems including technical specifications. In the future, the park district hopes to demolish of outdated playground equipment; add additional aggregate paths; add bleacher seating; build a fence for the ball fields; and increase the parking lot capacity.
