Community experienced drainage issues related to recent heavy rains
GLENCOE, Ill. - Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) has been retained by the Village of Glencoe to conduct a storm water drainage study for two flood prone areas. Due to recent heavy rainfalls, the village has experienced drainage issues near Green Bay and Lake, and Palos and Fairview roads. More specifically basements of several homes in both areas have reported flooding in basements, as well as, significant yard and street flooding. ERA was hired to determine the cause, extent and severity of the problems and evaluate alternatives to reduce the impact of flooding.
ERA will perform a hydrologic/hydraulic analysis within the flood prone areas using XPSWMM modeling. The results of the analysis will lead to the recommendations of proposed improvements that the village can undertake to improve flood frequency and severity. Flooding exhibits will be prepared, in addition to a storm water report, which demonstrates how recommended improvements will reduce and minimize flood losses.
