ERA designed several U.S. Green Building Council designated and LEED certified “green” building projects for the City of Chicago and surrounding municipalities
WARRENVILLE, Ill. - Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) has successfully designed several U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) designated and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified “green” building projects for the City of Chicago and surrounding municipalities. These sites were designed to maintain stormwater flows through the use of various means of infiltration. For example, grasses and other plantings were used on “green” roofs for a variety of buildings while pervious paving surfaces were used to minimize surface runoff into stormwater collection points. For both the “green” roofs and “green” parking lots, collected stormwater volumes were re-used for onsite landscape irrigation. Additionally, natural treatments systems including constructed wetlands, vegetated filter strips, and bioswales were established to treat stormwater runoff volumes prior to exiting the sites.
ERA is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and an active member within its local Chicago chapter. As a leader in successfully implementing LEED credits for site development projects, joining this organization was a natural extension of our already extensive experience designing and constructing “green” project elements for a wide variety of private and public clients.
The Plainfield Park District has long been a visionary organization with strong leadership and community support. Its persistence to pursue the various and complex funding mechanisms needed to turn vision into reality is a testament to the organization’s desire to fulfill its mission: to promote the development of a comprehensive park system and recreational opportunities that will provide personal enjoyment, contribute to a sense of self-fulfillment, and enhance the quality of life for all of its residents. When completed, the DuPage River Trail project will certainly go a long way to meeting these goals.
