Metropolitian Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago has awarded ERA sole responsibility to develop Cook County’s new Stormwater Ordinance

CHICAGO - The Metropolitian Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRDGC) has awarded Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) sole responsibility to develop Cook County’s new Stormwater Ordinance, its supporting technical guidance document, the administrative rules for implementation including all forms, schedules, etc. This far-reaching ordinance will affect the Cook County Forest Preserve, highway departments, park districts, school districts and over 130 individual municipalities located within Cook County – the second most populace county in the United States.

Under this program, ERA will write the ordinance and accompanying technical reference manual, manage the work of several sub-consultants, lead meetings with Cook County communities and other affected stakeholders as part of the effort to draft the documents, actively participate in the public hearings process, and provide educational opportunities for communities regarding the new ordinance. The comprehensive ordinance, when completed in several years, may include elements regarding regional stormwater, floodplain, water quality, wetlands, and riparian standards.
