ERA hired to complete final engineering design and obtain a sewer permit for a residential development in Chicago's River West neighborhood

CHICAGO - Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) was recently hired to complete final engineering design and obtain a sewer permit for a residential development in the City of Chicago. Located on Elston Avenue in the bustling River West neighborhood, the 0.49-acre site consisted of a 14-unit condominium building with detached garages and very little room for stormwater management. ERA’s innovative design consisted of using a permeable brick-paver product (Ecoloc) in place of a traditional bituminous surface on the site. Working hand-in-hand with the City of Chicago Water Department, ERA’s design incorporated runoff coefficients of 0.50 for semi-permeable surfaces and allowed for a much-reduced volume of required stormwater detention. In addition to obtaining sewer permits from the City of Chicago, ERA provided assistance to the developer in the construction phase of the project.
