ERA selected to improve storm sewer capacity in the Wingate Basin and alleviate chronic flooding problems
GLEN ELLYN, Ill. - This $7.5 million project is the largest and highest profile project of a group of Capital Improvement Projects funded by a referendum passed by voters in the fall of 2000. The primary purpose of the Wingate Basin Project is to improve storm sewer capacity in the Wingate Basin and alleviate chronic flooding problems within the basin. The project will include a variety of street improvements such as resurfacing, curb and gutter replacement, and reconstruction. Sanitary sewers and water mains will also be repaired and replaced throughout the project. Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) was selected for the project in 2001, and it was originally intended as a two-phase project. Throughout the design process, the Village elected to make the project larger and condense it into a one-phase, one-year construction project beginning in the winter of 2003-2004.
