Geneva Park District - Bennett Park Streambank Stabilization
ERA developed a stabilization plan that implements bioengineering and vegetative stabilization techniques
Engineering Resource Associates, Inc. (ERA) was hired by Geneva Park District to provide environmental and engineering solutions for the Bennett Park shoreline stabilization project. Portions of the Fox River shoreline experienced bank erosion and vegetation loss due to fluctuations of water levels, wave action, and ice shear. ERA's project team developed a stabilization plan that implements bioengineering and vegetative stabilization techniques. Dedicated fishing areas were incorporated into the design to minimize loss of bank vegetation due to fishing activity. Staff incorporated design standards that qualify for Illinois statewide and federal regional permits in order to reduce time and incurred costs to the park district.
ERA's Division of Environmental Services includes environmental scientists and specialists who understand the unique challenges each client faces. ERA has remedied streambank and shoreline problems by providing award-winning, bio-engineered solutions for clients. For example, the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) recognized ERA's solution for the Lyman Woods Streambank Stabilization Project as the Outstanding Conservation Award Winner in 2010. ERA has provided solutions for public and private clients including: Northbrook Park District (Sportsman's Country Club), City of Naperville (Lake Osborne), Village of Downers Grove (St. Joseph Creek North), Downers Grove Park District (Lyman Woods, Barth Pond), City of Wheaton (Shaffner Road), The Cantigny Foundation (Woodside Hole #2), Bolingbrook Park District (DuPage River Greenway Trail, Lily Cache Sports Complex, East Branch Stabilization), and private home owners and associations.
